From the artist, Paula Clayton of Chicago, IL

I was born and raised in Wellington, New Zealand. I have been in the United States for the majority of the last 20 years during which I studied and worked as a mural painter and decorative artist. I paint stories of inner magic, pulling together threads and passions from client's lives to celebrate that which brings them joy. A painted casket is a story to connect with who that person was and what they were proud of.

Inspiration

Trees shelter and protect us, and the edge of the woods is a transition from one world to another. Here the viewer is looking thru the trees with farms and rural scenes in the distance and magic lighting up the canopy. We go back to the earth, back to the magic of the trees. Our bodies the loam, our souls in the light.
